Generations in Lancaster: A Memorial Day to Remember

This Memorial Day weekend, our extended family gathered in Lancaster, Pennsylvania—a place chosen for its central location, making it possible for cousins to come together from New York, Virginia, Maryland, and Connecticut. The age range spanned from under one to the mid-forties, a living timeline of our family’s journey.

Lancaster greeted us with crisp, fresh air and the gentle beauty of Amish country. The days were filled with laughter and discovery: little ones wide-eyed at Dutch Wonderland, everyone rolling up their sleeves for Turkey Hill ice cream making, and a cozy Thai dinner that warmed us after a day of adventures.

There was something special about seeing new additions to the family meet their relatives for the first time—watching the littlest ones search for familiarity in new faces, tracing the slant of an eye or the curve of a nose, quietly connecting the dots of family resemblance.

The overall vibe was one of hope and continuity—of moving our family’s legacy forward while savoring the present. The beautiful May weather seemed to echo our mood: bright, open, and full of promise. As the weekend wrapped up, talk naturally turned to the future, with dreams of even larger gatherings and more memories to come.

Lancaster, with its rolling fields and welcoming spirit, became the perfect backdrop for a weekend that was all about family, shared stories, and simple joys.
