Where It All Began: Revisiting Sugar Mill Seasons
Today, I want to take a little walk down memory lane and share a piece of my early fiction creation: Sugar Mill Seasons.
At its core, Sugar Mill Seasons is a story about four sisters. If you have sisters—or even if you just have close friends who feel like family—you know exactly how complex, chaotic, and beautifully intertwined that dynamic can be. Sisterhood is a unique ecosystem. It is built on shared secrets, fierce loyalties, inevitable rivalries, and a bond that somehow stretches to accommodate every season of life. When I wrote this book, I wanted to capture that very essence—the way these four women navigate their distinct paths while remaining firmly tethered to the shared roots of their upbringing.
Looking back at an early work of fiction is always a deeply nostalgic experience for an author. You can see the raw edges of your own creativity and the pure, unfiltered passion that drove you to get the story onto the page. Sugar Mill Seasons holds an incredibly special place for me because it represents that initial leap of faith—the courage to build characters from scratch, give them a world to inhabit, and let their voices guide the narrative. It is a testament to the universal pull of family ties and the drama that unfolds when distinct personalities collide under one roof.
Whether you are looking for your next cozy weekend read or you simply love diving into character-driven family dramas with strong female leads, I would love for you to meet these four sisters.
